As Christmas approaches I start to get call after call from friends & family…. “What should we buy hubby?”
So, it’s become pretty customary for hubby to write out his Santa Wish List for me and then I take it upon myself to divvy up the items so that everyone can buy him something he wants and no one winds up buying duplicate.
Well, a couple of weeks back I asked hubby for his list. It came back to me looking something like this:
- Workout clothes
- New Leather Jacket (since you hate mine)
- Blue Ray movies (Gladiator, Braveheart, The Dark Night, The Watchmen) *Directors cuts are always better
- PS3 Games (Border Lands, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, Guitar Hero 5)
- A dremel
- Poker related beer tap handle
- A better couch for the man cave
- A universal remote for man cave
- Specialty shaving cream
Now, I’m not sure if you caught it or not but, mixed in somewhere between pajamas and shaving cream, hubby asked for a new couch. Yes, a new couch.. some how he snuck it onto his wish list!
I can imagine how the conversation might go with his sister.
Sis: “Did hubby say if he wants anything specific for Christmas”
Me: “Yes, let me grab the list”
Me: “Let’s see, your mom is getting him some movies & a beer tap, my mom is getting him some pajamas, And, I’ve already bought a few things so, it looks like your choices are shaving cream or a new couch.”
Sis: “Huh? Did you say a new couch?”
Me: “Why yes I did… interesting thing to put on a Christmas list, no?”
Sis: “What kind of drugs is he on?”
Me: “No idea, but he’s certainly not sharing…”
Sis: “Who puts a new sofa on a Christmas list?”
Me: “Only your brother… don’t forget, he was all yours before he was mine”
Sis: “Yes, I remember”
Me: “I’m the lucky one now!”
Sis: “Yes, yes you are…. And I’m sorry”
It’s amazing how many times Hubby’s family has said “I’m sorry” to me. It’s quite convenient that no one disclosed all of hubby’s wonderful traits to me before we were married!
I’d have to assume that there are indeed people out there who exchange big ticket items for Christmas. I mean, they wouldn’t make those enormous bows that you see on cars if people didn’t really buy gifts like that for each other, right?!. But, let me be completely clear here… hubby & I are NOT those people! So I have to say, seeing a couch on his list made me chuckle a bit. I know he wants a new couch, and we’ve talked about a new couch, but in this lifetime, in this universe Santa will not be putting a new couch under the tree…
Gotta love him for giving it a shot though!
