WOW… am I sore!
We had a great Christmas and then WHAM! We were walloped with one of the worst snowstorms that I can remember.
I think most of you know that we live in NJ and…. in case you live under a rock, or you’ve been in a food coma since Christmas, we were completely pummeled with 36 inches- YES! 36 inches – of snow. It started Sunday at about 10:00am and it was still coming down HEAVY when I went to bed at 2:15am.
And, I’ve never ever seen a snowstorm shut down our area this way before. We are certainly not strangers to snow. We get at least 2-3 good size snow falls each year and, in general, I’d say we have a pretty good system to plow ourselves out from under a few feet BUT.. I have no idea what happened this time. Today is Wed and there are still many towns & roadways that have yet to see a plow. We actually went out yesterday to pick up a friend from the train station and we saw cars stuck in huge snow enbankments & abandoned vehicles all over. It was an unpleasant, weird, surreal reminder of The Day After. One that I’d be ok if I never saw again!
Anyhow, we can finally see our driveway, our dog has a nice place shoveled in the backyard to go out (although she insists on leaping into the 3 feet of snow to make her way to our pool cover where she’s decided is the best place to poop! Ewwwwwww!). We’ve consumed plenty of hot cocoa & beer. We’ve sat cuddled in front of our fireplace and we’ve single-handedly kept advil in business, since our bodies are so damn sore from snow blowing & shoveling that we can barely move!
So, as I start to get back to “normal” life I wanted to share with you a few things..
This is a timelapse video that was filmed 10 minutes from where we live:
This is hubby battling his way down our driveway….(and yes, that’s a CAR next to him!)
And this is my lovely “snow angel” hubby.. (he’s either taking a much needed break after about 5 hours of clearing snow or he’s laying down on the job.. you be the judge!)
I certainly hope that you’ve enjoyed your last couple of days more than we did and… if you got blasted with this blizzard too, I hope you’ve been able to dig yourself out!
